ALICE NIERENBERG
Linda Lipson, in her April 2019 Volunteer Spotlight, has written a wonderful story about Alice Cotmam, (the Class of 66 knows Alice better as Alice Nierenberg). In the story Linda called Alice “An extraordinary woman.”  This is something we have all known for years.

The article is in the April 2019 issue of The Jewish News of Sarasota-Manatee, page 12 A. The complete publication can be found, as a flip book, on line at: https://issuu.com/thejewishnews/docs/the_jewish_news_-_april_2019/12

MRS. FELECIA ROWE PASSED AWAY

During our adult lives Mrs. Rowe continued to be admired and appreciated by her former students as an exceptional teacher! On February 14, 2022 Dan Joslin and Murray Horwitz informed us of Mrs. Rowe's passing. She had turned 93 on February 10th. Dan and Murray were both in contact with Mrs. Rowe often, as were a host of other students. She was greatly admired. Many classmates have fond memories of her and the impact she made on their lives

ON A HAPPIER NOTE
Murray and his wife, Lisa, often visited Mrs. Rowe. After a visit in March 2019, Murray said, "She is every bit as sharp, well informed, and wise as ever. It was a blessing to be able to tell her how much she means to each of us."  Mrs. Rowe was touched and delighted that she had received over a hundred cards for her 90th birthday and enjoyed hearing from former students. She had resided at Friendship Village in Trotwood, Ohio.  Those she taught thought of her fondly and always wished her the very best. We were fortunate to have her in our life.

Murray and Lisa Horwitz are shown with Mrs. Rowe while visiting her in 2019.

This wonderful photo of Phyllis was given to us by her lifelong friend Alice Nierenberg Cotman. It was taken while Phyllis was visiting with Alice in Florida in July 2021Our dear classmate, Phyllis, passed away on August 19, 2021. She was born May 10, 1948. Phyllis had been fighting cancer with optimism, courage and the grace she has always shown us. Our heart goes out to her family and many longtime friends with our sincere sympathy.

Phyllis was highly praised for her commitment to the Phoenix community through work with the International Rescue Committee as a loan officer and financial coach, helping refugees navigate life in the U.S. She was also an active volunteer with the Arizona Foster Care Review Board, advocating for children’s rights. Phyllis’ legacy will shine on through the countless lives she has touched.

Her creativity was boundless. Phyllis was especially known for her exceptional jewelry designs. She was inspiring, caring, fun, energetic, encouraging and extremely kind. She leaves us with lasting memories and will be greatly missed.

In our FHS ’66 Forty-Year Reunion booklet Phyllis noted a favorite quote. “Am I singing the song I came to sing?” We think she sang just the right song!
