GUEST BOOK
Thank you all for your wonderful Guest Book entries! They mean a great deal to the committee and to all the classmates! It is good to know you are out there. Go Bulldogs! You're the best!
I went to Fairview elementary 1967-1973 and our family lived on Malvern Avenue. My Dad was Thomas James Henderson Jr. and he was a Fairview high school graduate, I am thinking class of 1947. I remember the old Fairview high school and driving past it many times in the neighborhood. Thank you for all of this wonderful information. It was great to visit here. Blessings to you all.
Fellow Fairview Grads, Wanted to let you know of the passing of Fairview Basketball Coach Don Barger at age 85. Do you rember how he used to sit on the bench with a program rolled up and rocking back and forth during close games? Who will ever forget the team's great Regional Run in 1964...eventually losing to by a mere 8 points State Champs Belmont, featuring college all-americans and NBA players Don May and Bill Hosket. My Best to All, Bill Wheeler Class of 1965
Greetings Bulldogs, from a Wilbur Wright Pilot class of \'66. Found a link to this site at a WW site and came in for a look. Very nice, enjoyed my visit here. Sadly, little left of the high schools of our day.
I just visited this site for the first time since it has been redone..kudos to all that worked on it and maintains it..
I am from the Roosevelt High class of 1945. If there are any other survivors please write me a note.
My big brother, David M. Hardesty graduated from Fairview in 1966...How do I submit information about him to this website? Also, I \'signed\' the petition and wrote an email to the President of the School Board about our beautiful windows...What is the update on them? Thanks for having this site! Sincerely, April of the class of 1970
Greetings. I graduated from Cornell Heights with many of you in 1962, but was one of the few that went to Colonel White. I would dearly love to visit with many of you at your next reunion. Please keep me posted. It\'s about the only place I have a chance to see any of the kids I grew up with - Charles Berry, Don Moshos, Andy Allen, to name a few. Wonderful job. This is a beautiful site. Thank you.
Thanks so much for organizing this site. I viewed all the areas and it was so much fun to see faces and names I have not heard of or seen in years. I actually have kept in contact with friends from \'68 and \'69 classes. I lived in the bay area of California for many years. Our family moved to Charlotte, NC about 10 years ago. I have talked to Karen (Rodberg) Moore who lives in Charlotte. I am a high school nurse (a job I LOVE) and in the town where Connie (Bouts) Tobias lives. We have talked years ago but have never been able to get together. I have so many wonderful memories of high school and the youth group @ Grace United Methodist Church. The youth group was loaded with kids from FHS and CWHS. Hopefully I will be able to make it to the reunion in 2013. Our last reunion fell @ the same time we were heading to Hawaii for 2 weeks. Jeri, thanks for being so instrumental in putting this all together and for any others that have assisted !! PS: Where did the bulldog end up ??
Thanks for your efforts with the stained glass.
Good work
I don\'t know a lot of the people from the class of "68". Do you if the class of "65" has a web site?
Jeri/Dan, and whoever else puts this wonderful site together, I just want to say "Thanks for the memories." I had not visited the site in some time. I was really impressed by Dan\'s pieces on the faculty and Jeri you should get a medal for all the things you do in the name of Dear Ole\' Fairview. The bottom line is that the whole thing is well thought out. Thanks again, and now excuse me. I\'m going to step across the street to the Mascot.Ed Stout, FHS \'65
Hello from Jim at Dixie high schoolclass of 1959
Love this, my dad (David Handwerker) and mom (Brenda Deal) were grads. I am enjoying this site, thank you so much!My grandma was friends with the cook at Goody\'s and we have the onion soup and the butterscotch pie recipes as well.
Hello, some might remember me some might not.I started in the class of 62-66,but I got sick& was held back a year.I would have graduated in 67 but good old N.C.R transferred my Father my senior year.Is there any way in heck ? that I could be invited for the 45th. reunion, heck guys at my age there might not be another. Bye Phil Pixley A.X.E.
I\'ve been away from Dayton since 1990 when I had to move to Atlanta because of my job. Was planning to move back to Dayton after i retired. Maybe I will someday.
I am a graduate of Fairview class of 1964. I was very good friends with Jim Romerill who married Kathy Music. I see you are looking for her. She lives In Cincy, in rather poor health. I hear she weighs approximately 80lbs. I had dinner with Jim Romerill the other day. We both live in Florida. Thought I would give you as much info as I can. Terry
I am looking for Linda Campbell (Maiden Name) who I think graduated in 1965. Anybody know her? I hear she moved to Colorado. Thanks, Terry
Hope you don\'t mind a member from Class of \'72 dropped in, but I have older siblings and cousins that graduated in the 60s and uncles and aunts before that. I think I have more memories from their high schools days than mine (siblings that is). It was great to see some of the old photo and landmarks of Dayton.
You\'ve put together a terrific website! Although I graduated the previous year, I remember many of you...and saw photos of some of the \'65 gang. I\'ve been living in Florida since about 1975 so I\'ve lost touch with my classmates. Would love to hear from anyone. Does anyone know what happened to Sally Tullis? We were joined at the hip in high school!
I just took the guided tour @11-11-09 Field Trip. God Bless those who put it together. This was my first look inside in 50 years. Thanks for the memories.
I believe my Dad, John Raymond Rush graduated in 1931. Love your website.and all the pictures of all the buildings downtown. Thanks.
Walked thru Fairview after the auction, and stopped to look at the stained glass window. It really is beautiful. Too bad I had to wait to be 60 to realize that.

Who\'s out there? Bob
hello to all former 1964 classmatesI just heard that the school is being torn down next year. that is a sad thing but that is life
1956 FHS...would like to stay informed as to how we can preserve FHS .....Windows...and all...please help us preserve the outstanding history and the memory of those who have given their lives for our country. God bless America.
Dear Mary Ellen,Exciting to hear that you are concerned about the FHS stained glass windows. If you are talking about how the entire class of 1956 can help, the first way would be to spread the word about the \'66 website address (www.fairview66.org) and the Windows Page information on the site. Secondly, if you have connections to your class representative who has your class contact list, the windows committee could send out information to your classmates if we had a copy of that list or we can give you specific information to send to your class. We can use all the help we can get. You may contact me directly at wishingstar@columbus.rr.com. Donations may be made from the windows donation page on the \'66 website. I appreciate your concerns about the windows. Thank you for writing! Jeri Jones Bland, FHS \'66
Hello graduates of Fairview High School. I\'m with the Class of \'65. Even though I didn\'t graduate with the class of \'65, I grew up with all who were a part of the years from \'61-65. In fact, some classmates date back to grade school, Fairview Elem. The "Steiner" family dates back to the late 50\'s and 60\'s. My brothers, Fred, \'61 and Doug, \'69 (I think) played football, basketball and baseball for many years. My sister, Connie, \'59, was a cheerleader for 3 years and was always part of the Maypole dancing group. She was also a member of the Ace High club! I played the saxophone in the concert and marching band and attended band camp for 3 years. Remember Mr. Griep, our band leader? He led our Scotchettes, Majorettes, drill team and band to many years of marching formations during half-time of football games at "Welcome Stadium". One year, we were invited to Cleveland, to strut our stuff during half-time at one of the Cleveland Browns game! What an honor! (I forget who the opposing team was?) Good times!!I\'ll have to write more about Fairview and all that happened throughout the years another time. But this brings back many memories.Thank you!Anita (Steiner) Kinderman
You have an impressive website and it was fun to read about the "upper classpeople" with whom I was so impressed in my HS days. Our class of 1968 has had a reunion every 5 years since our 20th and we maintain communication with many of our classmates. Some of us here in Dayton still see each other frequently. Will check this site our periodically , as well as the site of \'68, to see what\'s going on.
For all my classmates, you all have done a great job in capturing the spirit and the energy of the Class of 66. I\'ve been away from Dayton since 1981 when I moved our family to Scottsdale, AZ, then on to Denver, CO in 1993. I have been back a few times to visit remaining family, but have never taken the initiative to make contact with any of the class. Sounds odd for the one voted "Boy with the best school spirit \'66". But life is so full of twists and turns. The latest being the discovery of this site. I\'m hoping to re-kindle some of the friendships from long ago. Thanks you all on the committee for making this possible.
I\'m delighted to have stumbled across this website - I moved away to California in 1964, so I did not graduate with the 1966 class. But I\'ve often wondered what happened to the wonderful people I knew. Hope to hear from some of you.
I was just looking again at all the wonderful comments so many of you have made. On behalf of the website committee, your excitement and kindness are greatly appreciated. Thank you and we hope you continue to enjoy!! We are! Jeri
This site is wonderful!! I am so impressed with all the efforts that you folks are making to keep your class and Fairview alive! I was in the class of \'67 and had lost contact with just about everybody and thankfully have recently reconnected with several people. That reconnection and visiting this site has flooded me with memories. Thank you so much.
I remember so many of you from band and other school activities. You have a great site and way to communicate. My long-time friend Bob Englert told me about this so I took the opportunity to check it out and I’m glad I did. Best wishes always.
What a wonderful tribute to my alma mater, class of 67. My dad, Jim Binkley, was an English teacher at Fairview. Dan Wolfe contacted me to find Dad. Sadly he died 5 years ago, but next week Dan plans to talk with my mom who is in Beavercreek visiting family. Dad loved FHS and he would be proud to be remembered.
Great to find this websight. It's good to remember while we can.
This is the best!! My mind is flooding with memories of all of you, the school, I get so melancholy looking at and reading it all. Thanks to you for taking the time to bring it all back. Susi Sower Hansen FHS '65
To all- Does anyone else remember when we were freshman, and Jack Berkmeier did the morning announcements, and came on and said "Good morning FHS, Today is S-H-I-T, Sure Happy It's Thursday"- and the loudspeaker went dead. It was a great introducton the humor of FHS! Andy
To the class of 66 just wanted you to know that Kerry Thompson passed away Nov. 26.2009. He had cancer for about 2 months. He went very peacefully. Keep us in your prayers. you can go to newcomerdayton.com Sue Thompson
What can I say? Words cannot express the emotions I am feeling especially when I saw pictures of Mr. Bruggeman, my Beginning French and Etymology teacher. The students in the class of 1966 might have been some of his first students but I was one of his last at Fairview. Oh, the memories of trying french dishes prepared by fellow students and learning the Greek alphabet. Don't ask me to recite them now!! The pictures of the 11/11/2009 Field Trip brought so much joy and sorrow to me since our school is slated for the wrecking ball later this year. I wish I could have been there. There is only one thing to say: "Add a webpage with links to other Fairview alumni sites, i.e., Facebook's Fairview listing, etc. and a page for alumni and staff that are no longer with us". Other than that, my heartfelt thanks for letting me relive some of my fondest memories of the greatest high school in Dayton.
A CLASS MATE SENT THIS TO ME AND I AM STILL READING IT. JUDY BISER CLASS OF 62' GREAT JOB , I AM HAVING FUN GOING DOWN MEMORY LANE.
Hey Guy's, Your web site is spectacular. Just received an e-mail from Jeri I hope the info provided will help her in locating Jan Culp 63. I have been communicating with your fellow classmates and appreciate all the kind remarks these past few weeks. Let me know if any additional info is needed and I will be glad to make any contacts for you in order to build your web site. Jack
Jeri: I have just finished catching up on all the additions that have been made to the site and it's content. Boy, my hat is off to you folks who have transformed the Fairview66 site from a vision to what it is today: a wonderful link to our common past. Please also pass along my thanks to Dan Wolfe for his great story of a visit with Mr. Bruggeman, a teacher who made a difference to him. I marvel at the talent, creativity and dedication that continues to pour forth from our classmates. It was an honor to attend FHS with you all and I'll bet Nancy Marker would be as proud of you as I am. My very best regards, Marc
Marlene, thanks so much for your kind words. The committee really apreciates it! It has been fun working on the site. It is wonderful to hear from you and hope we can get more classmates to make an entry on this page. Having many entries would be an interesting addition for other classmates. It's a great way to keep in touch with everyone. Again, so good to hear from you and thanks for writng an entry! Come on classmates — let's hear from you! As Marlene said, we may be 61 but we are the "new" 41. So let's show it. Go Bulldogs!!
Thanks to Mike Levitt - I just heard about the new website. It is really terrific. Thanks to all who have worked so hard to make this such a user friendly site. I look forward to checking in often to learn what people are up to. It is hard to believe that we are now 61 - but I guess since 60 is the new 40 - we are really only 41!!!
Hello Classmates!I am taking advantage of this space to thank you for joining your other classmates in viewing our new class website. It's so good to see you participating and registering on the "Class of 66" page. The registrations on that page will form our master contact list for upcoming reunions and other notifications, so it is important to register. We appreciate all of your comments so please keep them coming!! We have gotten some good suggestions for the site. Looking forward to hearing more from you!-- Jeri Jones Bland
